The Collegiate Consortium was formed in 1994, with a small grant from the National Science Foundation to deliver education and training to workers displaced by the closing of the Philadelphia Naval Base and Shipyard. Twenty-three years later our mission is still to deliver business-specific education and training to workers in the greater Philadelphia Region. Whether serving companies to up -skill incumbent workers or re-skilling displaced workers with grant funding, to date the Consortium has served over 16,000 individuals to help them move forward in current or new careers. Our success has allowed us expand our reach and partner with 23 colleges in 10 states to deliver Consortium-developed training to corporate and industrial clients. We have been honored with numerous awards, including the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning national award for Outstanding Institutional Service to Adult Learners, and as a semi-finalist for the Ford Foundation and Harvard University Innovations in American Government award. We continue to win grant opportunities to deliver training across a variety of industries.
Our approach is to build strong and trusted relationships with business and industry in order to understand current and long-term training needs. We then develop programs necessary to keep our businesses strong through employee investment. Based on company location we use the college that makes best geographic sense for the client.
